Dear Friends,

In the midst of war and violence, we are blessed with glimpses of the beauty of daily life here in Karenni State. While the Burma Army wreaks destruction and the resistance fighters do their best to push back, the persistence of the people here in stewarding their life and land, continuing to plant, nurture, and harvest, is an equally powerful stand – not just against an oppressor, but for freedom and peace.

We thank God for His protection and provision. One of our FBR mission camps sits behind fields that have been recovered from the Burma Army since the burning of the DohKuKu Church in June 2022. On one of our days off, Rangers joined the villagers for their rice-planting day. Some, who are from rural Karen State mountain areas, had their first experience with mechanized farming here in the plains. On our family walks through this recovered rice, sesame, corn, and peanut farmland, we met the morning commute of villagers and cows, thankful to steward the life and land God has given them.

God bless you,
