On Feb. 17, villagers from Miletwah Village fled to Paletwah Town, Paletwah Township,\u00a0because Burma Army\u00a0artillery\u00a0was\u00a0fired\u00a0around their village. The Arakan Army\u00a0had been moving around the village\u00a0at the time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0Burma Army warned\u00a0the villagers to leave their homes. However,\u00a0the Burma Army\u00a0did not wait\u00a0for villagers to leave before firing. The artillery\u00a0fell\u00a0close to\u00a0villagers\u00a0and the places where villagers shower.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Feb. 16,\u00a0shrapnel from\u00a0artillery fired by Burma Army Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 289 hit a 48-year-old Miletwah villager on his right shoulder. While the injury was not serious, the villager was taken to a local hospital for treatment.\u00a0A 65-year-old woman was also injured in the same strike around noon that day when artillery struck near\u00a0their homes in Miletwah Village. Then, around 9 p.m. on Feb. 18, LIB 289 again fired artillery, hitting a\u00a012-year-old boy in the head.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miletwah Village is located on the east bank of the Kaladan River and Paletwah Town is on the west bank.
