{"id":68375,"date":"2015-04-24T04:43:29","date_gmt":"2015-04-24T04:43:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.freeburmarangers.org\/?p=60627"},"modified":"2015-04-24T04:47:38","modified_gmt":"2015-04-24T04:47:38","slug":"report-on-murder-of-103-year-old-mother-and-son-by-burma-army-soldiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/my\/2015\/04\/24\/report-on-murder-of-103-year-old-mother-and-son-by-burma-army-soldiers\/","title":{"rendered":"Report on Murder of 103-year Old Mother and Son by Burma Army Soldiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong>Report on Murder of 103-year Old Mother and Son by Burma Army Soldiers<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<address><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><em>April 24, 2015<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><em>Kachin State<\/em><\/span><\/address>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong>***Warning: Graphic images included in this report.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Following on from our<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> report on the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/2015\/04\/01\/civilians-murdered-and-widespread-use-of-air-strikes-despite-high-level-meetings\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">murder of civilians<\/span><\/a><\/span> on the first of April<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span>we have received additional information on this crime and its perpetrators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">On 21 March 2015 at 10:30AM, Burma Army troops from Light Infantry Battalions 317 and 415 of the 88th Division came to attack Mahtek Village, Mansi Township in the Kachin Independence Army&#8217;s 27<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"> Battalion area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">People from across the area fled from the advance, including residents from Du Hku Village, some 1.27 kilometres from Mahtek. These people sought refuge in the jungle and hoped to avoid the Burma Army.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Amongst the refugees were 52-year-old Dau Ma La and his 103-year-old mother Da Shi Hka.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Grabbing a few possessions, they ran into the jungle and hid. At 11.00AM Dau Ma La and Da Shi Hka were discovered by Burma Army troops under the command of Commander Ye Win Lwin and were shot to death.
