Several Karen leaders, as well as<br \/>\nvillagers and students from a nearby school, and all the JSMK staff gathered to<br \/>\ncelebrate with the new graduates.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/JSMK-2012-students-grad-feb131.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-58746\" title=\"JSMK 2012-students grad feb13\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/JSMK-2012-students-grad-feb131.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new medics completed their 12 months of training, including a 2 months\u2019 foundation<br \/>\ncourse (physical training, math, English, science, learning to take a patient history,<br \/>\nphysical exam, anatomy and physiology). For the next 8 months, the students were<br \/>\ntaught the common diseases of Karen State and saw patients in OPD (outpatient<br \/>\ndepartment, or clinic) and IPD (inpatient department or hospital). In December, the<br \/>\nstudents went on a FBR relief mission to surrounding areas seeing and treating patients<br \/>\nin different locations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/JSMK-2012-students-singing-feb131.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-58744\" title=\"JSMK 2012 students singing feb13\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/JSMK-2012-students-singing-feb131.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Toh, the Karen medical director of JSMK, says, \u201cLife is hard in the jungle for learning,<br \/>\nbut all the students, staff and teachers enjoyed the whole year. The teachers, staff, and<br \/>\nstudents have to carry food supplies as well as other needs to run a school. No one<br \/>\ncomplains, instead, everyone hopes that this school stands for the future of improving<br \/>\nhealth in Karen State.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/JSMK-2012-TohMawNaw-feb131.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"JSMK 2012 Toh,MawNaw feb13\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.freeburmarangers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/JSMK-2012-TohMawNaw-feb131.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We want to thank everyone who supports JSMK through prayer, food, medical and non<br \/>\nmedical supplies, technical support and teaching.
