Teams are now providing limited relief to people who are fleeing these attacks. There are teams in each of these areas and the following is a brief update.

Southern Mon township: “We will run out of food here in a week and must move these people-there are about 300 in hiding here and Burma Army all around“. They only have food enough for one week and if we do not move them out there will be no more food for them. The situation is very bad.” — Southern Mon township relief team.

Northern Mon township: On 22 November 2006 the Burma Army MOC (16) left from Htee War Blay Kee camp to Kwee De Kor village and captured many villagers (men, women and children) in Myaung Oo, Aung Chan Tha and Paw Pi Dor villages. “We not know the fate of these captured people.” — Northern Mon township relief team.

“There are landmines everywhere- so very many. (The new landmines mentioned are Burma copies of the M14 anti- personnel landmine.)

Burma Army LIB 323 and LIB 522 are now at a new camp named Naw Law They Pwa. They have chased the villagers from this area and are patrolling from this new camp- all in hiding are in danger.

The Burma Army is also sending more troops into this area. Reinforcements have arrived at Saw Mi Loo and Muthey camps on the Kauk Kyi-Hsaw Hta road. These camps serve as a base for attacks into all of Mon township.

Three more companies of troops have also been sent to Nya Mu Kee on the north side of the Mon river. These three companies belong to LIB 507 and LIB 323.

Toungoo District: Patrols continue in all areas and most villages have been abandoned. — One of the Toungoo District FBR relief teams.

Total number of people caught up in this offensive – over 25,000 Karen people.

Thank you for your care, God bless you,
A Relief Team Leader
FBR

ENDS

FBR REPORT: “We will run out of food here in a week and must move these people.” Northern Karen State, Burma 24 November, 2006 “We will run out of food here in a week and must move these people-there are … Continued

[1

post-63881","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reports","state-magwe","state-pegu","state-sagaing
["en","my
["GET
