Dear Friends,<\/p>\n

Thank you so much for your love and support for the ministries of the Free Burma Rangers, Christians Concerned for Burma and all of our other ministries in Burma, Thailand, Iraq, Kurdistan, Syria and Sudan. Thank you too for your prayers, love and encouragement for our teams and family. In 2016 we started our own 501(c)(3) public charity called Free the Oppressed (FTO)<\/strong>, which is a tax-exempt public charity. Through Free the Oppressed, we now have our own funding organization through which we can receive financial support for all of these projects.<\/p>\n

The name of the foundation is inspired by the words of Jesus in Luke 4:18-19:<\/p>\n

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
\nHe has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind,
\nTo set the oppressed free,
\nTo proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mission<\/h3>\n

Free the Oppressed (FTO) supports the work of the Free Burma Rangers (FBR), which is a multi-ethnic humanitarian service movement working to bring help, hope and love to people in the conflict zones of Burma, Iraq, and Sudan. Working in conjunction with local ethnic pro-democracy groups, FBR trains, supplies, and later coordinates with what become highly mobile multipurpose relief teams. After training these teams provide critical emergency medical care, shelter, food, clothing and human rights documentation in their home regions.<\/p>\n

Beliefs<\/h3>\n

FTO is a Christian organization, and we subscribe to traditional Christian beliefs as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed:<\/p>\n

I believe in God,
\nthe Father almighty,
\nCreator of heaven and earth,
\nand in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
\nwho was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
\nborn of the Virgin Mary,
\nsuffered under Pontius Pilate,
\nwas crucified, died and was buried;
\nhe descended into hell;
\non the third day he rose again from the dead;
\nhe ascended into heaven,
\nand is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
\nfrom there he will come to judge the living and the dead.<\/p>\n

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
\nthe holy catholic Church,
\nthe communion of saints,
\nthe forgiveness of sins,
\nthe resurrection of the body,
\nand life everlasting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
